Annual Congress of LECSA 2017: Frankly Speaking│Regional Trade Arrangements: Latvia and CETA organised on Friday, 16 June 2017 at the University of Latvia, Small Hall (Raina Blvd. 19, Riga).
The aim of the Congress is to bring together members of LECSA to discuss – geo-politic position of the EU and its Member States. EU has signed a Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) with Canada, the fist it kind for the EU, entering into force in 2017, opening a renewed market strategy for the EU in the modern sense. Latvia was the fist EU Member State that has voted to pass CETA agreement. On February 23, the Saeima (Latvian Parliament) adopted the law “On the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada, of the one part, and the European Union and its Member States, of the other part.CETA open new export opportunities and provide Latvian companies with valuable experience of operating in the North American market. At the Congress we will share expereince of Latvia and other EU Member States in relation to CETA as well as the EU and Canada position in shaping globalisation according to EU and Canada joint values.
